Another Cup

There are times
When you keep me alive.
Painted in uneasy drowsiness;
molasses brained.
Then: your chemical induction
jumper cables my mind.
Filling the dull, dark corners
with bright hot energy.
The muse arouses from
her slumber

Then I sit.
Marveling at the sight
of a half empty coffee cup
sitting on the window sill.

I'm so tapped out that I actually wrote an ode to coffee. SIGH!

I like the first stanza, particular the way you describe that chemical reaction. I'm on an energy drink high at this moment, and I feel those jumper cables pulsating with bright hot energy: I don't feel that muse though...

I'm not quite sure what's occurring in the second stanza though. Is this post-coffee high? Everything is so still and motionless.
