Adam Morrison

Once, a prized bulldog.
Groomed for the hardwood spotlight.
Awards, evidence of that championship breed.

Now, tossed, headfirst into this great lake,
with onlookers, pointing, laughing,
at the drowning.

I thought this sad for Adam Morrison (albeit, I could not stop laughing), especially after reading about his award winning collegiate career:

It's going to be tough for me to juggle my own writing with my summer students', but I'm determined to continue on, though the quality may suffer, as will my comments on all your awesome poems, poets.

That said, I loved Triforce and The New Fear: I recall those younger days traversing Hyrule, via Nintendo and the cartoon offshoot, and Vampires and Zombies are one of my favorite nonsensically serious topics of debate. So, all the clever references you both offer in your poems were fun for me to catch. Good stuff!

I've had a difficult time with the writing and taching summer classes. I admire your determination and hope that some of it can transpire on to me.

As for the poem: awesome! The narrative is really detailed, especially the second stanza. You picked a great voice to convey the story through. The irony hints to dark humor, a personal fav in poetry.
Good luck with the classes. I'm right there in the thick of it with you.

Thanks for the kind words, Brandi! Hope your classes are going well, and I'm looking forward to your posts when you do find the space to write!

I feel bad for the kid, but he's got 2 rings. I like the bulldog line. The college game means little in the NBA. Tyler Hansbrough had his number retired while he was still at UNC. Last year for the Pacers he hardly played, meanwhile a guy that never went to college is going to be a billion dollar athlete. I hate Lebron.

I take it back. Hansbrough wasn't still playing for UNC. They waited a year to rtire his number.
