yesterday
we were young
waking early for weekend cartoons sinlessly
sitting too close to the tv carelessly
drinking from the hose harmlessly
chasing the ice cream man fearlessly
playing until the sun quit
Today—
The 6 a.m. scream.
Saturday shift.
The local news drones.
Shit. Shower. Shave.
Aquafinas in the fridge.
Overtime drive.
A 5 p.m. clock out.
Our lesses,
Now fulls.

Mr. Andrews' poetry inspired me to write this.
Wow. That Andrews must be a depressing asshole. I like the use of shift. And the alliteration/rhyme. Right up my alley
This would be in the Overtime section of Occupation.
The titular pun rocks too!
Very nice sir. I dig how the punctuation and capitalization show the force of conformity that takes over as we age. Also, the enjabment really acts metaphorically, showing how youth really doth too quickly pass.
