Ripe

It grows.
Thick from the root
spreading a canopy
shading the ground.

The fruit
hard green
at first
turns soft,
fleshy,
pink.
Ripe.
Because it's supposed to.

We pick it.
Eat around
the soft parts
and throw the pit away.
Because we're supposed to.

I've really hit a wall here man. I don't know about this at all.

There's an interesting discussion at play here on the nature of things. The fruit naturally ripens to life, fleshy; and man, by nature so it may seem, is destructive, picking, eating, and throwing away. Interesting intellectual fodder, sir.
