We used to impress
Our footprints in sand,
Sinking with each step,
Yet remaining untracked,
As the tide would reach
And wash them away.
Now each step's soaked
In wet cement,
Weighing down our strides,
And paving a trail
That will soon solidify—
Permanently—
Crippling the unborn/
Sacking the unbuilt/
Justifying the unheard.
