Slide off curbsides
Come back around
Ollie-off
of
curbs
Down
and, back around.
Carve your way towards
a curb again
only to ollie-off
onto sidewalks
jumping off curbsides
back into streets
Your wheels rough across cemented road
As you shift your weight towards a new center
You, without any sight of me look around you
And, push towards home: you never glide.

Welcome to the blog, Nooshin! Glad to have you hear! I like your first post, and think your hesitance with poetry is unwarranted. There is a very clear rhythm in this poem that seems to go hand-in-hand with the subject matter. The idea of constantly shifting up and down, back and around, from different surfaces, and the idea of always pushing, never gliding, seems to be a strong metaphor for life. The limited use of punctuation also adds a lot to the pacing of the poem. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work, Nooshin! Enjoy the weekend!
